Getting Started with your online course
Welcome to online education with CUEnet! We have prepared this page to
help get you started, especially if this is your first time with
distance education.
1. Do you have everything you need to start?
The quality of online education is heavily influenced by the
computer and the internet connection you are using. Are these
barely adequate or good quality? As well you should have read, watched
and downloaded everything you can so that you are as prepared as
possible.
2. Where and when will you do your work?
Fitting in online learning into your professional schedule can be a
challenge. Planning ahead will help your focus, efficiency and
retention of the class material.
3. Are your books and research skills ready?
The most important book is the Bible. The classes offered in Teacher
Colloquy draw heavily upon this book as well as the books
contained in the Concordia Electronic Theological Library.
4. Where do you go for help?
Do you know how to contact someone for program information, technical support, class registration?
5. "I've logged in, now what?"
Once you have entered your course, scope it out. What does the class
require in terms of assignments, research, reading, watching,
participation? Who is your mentor and how do you contact him? Make your
plan in prayerful conversation with your heavenly Father and dive in!
