Technology
Requirements
CUEnet
uses video streaming technology that allows the user to view both
recorded class sessions and participate in live, interactive class
sessions. There are a few important hardware and software
requirements. The software requirements
(except operating systems) are all free and can be provided by
CUEnet on CD or can be downloaded from the Internet. Since the
classes are viewed over the Internet, the aesthetic quality of the
classes will be determined by the quality and speed of your Internet
connection. While classes can be viewed on a dial-up modem,
it
is highly recommended that you have a broadband
(cable, DSL) connection.
Hardware
Requirements
Recommended machine:
- 500 MHz Pentium III processor or greater
- 500 MB RAM
- 100 MB free hard disk space
- CD-ROM Drive
- High-speed connection -- not wireless -- (DSL /
Cable) with a good, reliable connection to the Internet
Supported
operating systems
- Microsoft Windows XP SP2/3 with latest service
patches
- Microsoft Windows 7 with latest service
patches
- Microsoft Windows x64 systems are mostly
supported
- Mac (Unix-like) not
supported -- see below
Software
Requirements
Mac
- CUEnet
does not offer technical support to Mac/OS X users. However, any newer
Mac (with an Intel CPU) should be able to dual boot into a
Microsoft Windows operating system where all CUEnet programs are
supported. We suggest obtaining a educational version of Windows
(usually under $99) and using BootCamp on the Mac to install it.
Support for this operation is found here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/what-is-macosx/compatibility.html.
- Please
note: the CETL - Concordia Electronic Theological Library requires an additional purchase from LOGOS. The link is here: http://www.logos.com/mac/engine.
