Lecturer: Dr. Adam Francisco, Professor of History and Political Thought | Concordia University Irvine

Dr. Adam Francisco is the Director of Academics and Scholar in residence at 1517 and adjunct professor of history at Concordia University Chicago and Irvine. At the time of recording, Dr. Francisco served as a Professor of History and Political Thought at Concordia University Irvine. Earlier, he served as an Assistant Professor of Historical Theology at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he taught Islamic studies and Christian apologetics and Assistant Professor of History at Concordia College New York.

Dr. Francisco received his BA in Biblical Languages (2000) and MA in Reformation Theology (2001) from Concordia University Irvine, and MSt (2003) and DPhil (2006) in Historical Theology and Christian-Muslim Relations from the University of Oxford. He served as the Albin Salton Fellow at University of London's prestigious Warburg Institute from 2004-2005.

He has published a variety of articles, essays, and books on Islam, Christian apologetics, and history, including Martin Luther and Islam: A Study in Sixteenth-Century Polemics and Apologetics. Together with two colleagues, Dr. Francisco hosts The Thinking Fellows and Faith and Reason Exchange podcasts.

Adam and his wife, Rachel, have four children and live in Wheaton, Illinois.
